Confession: It is so easy for me to get caught up in the buzz of a brand, trend or the latest and greatest. I am a marketing department's dream! But as I get a bit wiser about spending my money, it's important for me to see the value in my purchases, even if that means I must miss out on an it product or trend. And that's alright! If you read my So For 2018 post, you know that I am working to not let the influences of others make so much of an impact on me. And though in that post it was geared toward my creativity, it still applies here! Coming into my own, developing my own voice, style and demonstrating restraint in jumping on the latest and greatest is an integral part of my personal journey. Life is not at all about keeping up with the Jones', but BEING the Jones'.
Sneakers have made a major resurgence in the fashion world, thanks to major celebrity collaborations with some high profile athletic brands (thank you Kanye and RiRi)! Every fashion blogger, brand and influencer are sporting pastel and candy colored sneaks and I had a serious case of style lust...until I look at the price tag. From my basketball and gym days that goes all the way back to grade school, I can appreciate the craftsmanship and features of a quality athletic shoe. For true athletic activity, save your money and purchase the training shoe that will keep you safe and comfortable. My gym training shoes are not cheap, but amazing quality and perfect for me. However...for an athleasure look, I just cannot justify the cost of spending $$$ on a "pretty" pair of sneakers. So, I have done some work for you and rounded up some chic, fun and pretty sneakers that will not break the bank (some are even current buzz brands)!
